Dear Delegates,
I bid you a warm welcome to the 12th Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) Biennial Scientific Meeting.
The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented global crisis, and the resulting travel restriction and social distancing requirement has resulted in uncertainties and posed significant challenges in the organisation of this meeting. Despite the trying circumstances, APPES and the Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology (KSPE) will work closely together to deliver a safe, informative, and enjoyable conference. Despite the ongoing pandemic we must persevere in our mission, be innovative and adapt to the circumstance in order to continue our mandate to promote and develop paediatric endocrinology in the Asia Pacific region, in order to bring better care to the children, and to grow the influence and prominence of Asia Pacific in the global paediatric endocrinology fraternity. Our scientific meetings and fellows’ schools are very important avenues to share and impart knowledge, and also to grow our paediatric endocrine community and build camaraderie.
It is very gratifying to see my fellow colleagues in APPES and KSPE persevering to produce this conference despite the challenges. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the organising and scientific committees for putting together such an excellent programme. I am grateful for the partnership of KSPE and on behalf of my APPES council members, I would like to express our gratitude for their friendship and collaboration.

Letter of Invitation
I am honored to invite you to the 12th biennial Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society 2022 (APPES 2022), held on October 5-8 in Seoul, Korea.
Since its establishment in 1999, APPES has been held every two years as a global networking conference that enables participants to share brand new information and technology on paediatric endocrinology and provide grounds for shared academic research, allowing countries to share human resources and enhance cooperation globally. I believe APPES 2022 will become a valuable opportunity to share great perspectives and knowledge on paediatric endocrinology and recent research trends through lectures and discussions with some of the most respected scholars worldwide.
After hosting the 5th APPES at Seoul in 2008, I am very pleased to invite you to Seoul once again. This year, we plan to discuss in depth the “New era and big challenges in paediatric endocrinology,” sharing ideas about the major challenges and risks we may experience and some new approaches we can take to address those risks to reach a new era. I hope APPES 2022 conference helps the self-enrichment of healthcare professionals working in paediatric endocrinology both in and out of the country while improving people’s health. By hosting the conference in a hybrid format (both Virtual and In person), we are planning to find ways that allow more people to attend the conference despite the troughs of COVID-19.
I express my sincerest gratitude to the members of APPES and the Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology who are dedicating themselves to the development of paediatric endocrinology despite such a hard situation. Especially, I express thanks to the APPES Council Member and the Scientific Committee. I hope that, in the huge changes brought to us by the pandemic, this conference becomes a meaningful place for sharing ideas and possible solutions for questions waiting to be answered, while we all look together at the new era of paediatric endocrinology and the big challenges lying ahead.
